Dempsey gravesite in Brooklyn

10/4/2021 Update after talking with folks at Holy Cross: the gravesite was purchased in 1896 by Thomas Dempsey of Brooklyn. This fits with the 1892 census that lists Thomas as living with the family in Brooklyn, and also the later obituaries for his siblings that Thomas moves back to Ireland.

Last payment made on the site was in 1963. Holy Cross may have more info, still waiting to hear ...

10/25/2021 update from Holy Cross:

3334.25 is owed in arrears.

1507.50 is the endowment to pay forever. Note this is a double grave.

So, 4841.75 is due to enable a stone to be put in place.

Price of a new upright stone starts about 3500.

A flat/footstone will be a lot cheaper.

Last payment made in 1963 was for $12 ! No record who made it

more to come ...

Memorial service for Mary Grady

Mary Grady, 1928-2017, was the missing link between the family of Martin O'Grady and Thomas, his youngest brother. If you are reading this, you should be thankful that Mary was able to connect the two branches of the family at her death, and fill in so much family history!

Thanks to Katherine for the pics:
