another Dempsey connection ...

... to the Moorfield Dempseys, that is.

Nelly O'Grady Clancy's passport application in 1920 is witnessed by Michael Reynolds of 139 Sullivan Street, married to Anne Dempsey of Moorfield:

Martin Dempsey & Rose McGrail (Mariah's brother)

More gems found by Wendy:

Anne Dempsey's birth, 1903. Anne goes on to marry Jerome Nash:

I wonder where the 'Sauretta' as a middle name comes from?

Martin's death, 1939:

His mother is correctly listed as Katherine Jennings; his father listed as Martin is incorrect, should be Bernard.

Rose (McGrail/McGrael) Dempsey's death, 1942:
So her parents were Patrick McGrail and Ella McParlin.

Catherine Jennings Dempsey Death, 1896

 Wendy DeRiancho found this:

Two causes of death are listed:

1. Pulmonary Phthisis (https://www.dovemed.com/article-synonyms/pulmonary-phthisis/)

2. Asthenia https://www.medicalnewstoday.com/articles/asthenia-weakness

So, looks like this is close to TB, and she had it for at least 6 months (July 1895 thru Jan 1896).

Also, looks like Thomas Dempsey received the certificate of her death. He also paid for her burial at Holy Cross.

(Note date of burial has wrong year)

Thanks Wendy!
