Moore cemetery - May 13, 2023

I wish I had paid better attention to this when I took the pic. Discussion was that this was Patrick O'Grady's grave (of Castlefield), with the McGovern / puddler poet connection.
But the first name I can make out is Mary Connolly. Great-grandfather Thomas's sister Mary marries Michael Connolly. Need more research.

Kath's pic of the Gready/Grady/O'Grady stone:

So, the Dempsey/Dillon connection. I originally thought this was Luke Dillon who married Bridget Dempsey, but the years are wrong (too recent). Instead it appears to be Luke Dillon (son of Luke Dillon and Bridget Dempsey) who marries Bridget Keane. Still, part of the Dempsey Moore/Farm connection.

That mystery still lingers: how is Thomas Dempsey of Moore/Farm related to Thomas and Bernard of Cloonreliagh?

Not sure this is the same Dillon connection, need to research.

Thank you!

We had quite a diverse gathering of family on May 13th! Folks from the UK and US dropping in on and disrupting the lives of their cousins in Trien and neighboring Galway and not so neighboring Westmeath for a romp through fields and farmlands and the remnants of old homes ... it was great!

Thanks to all who came in for the visit: Colm, Emma, Finola, Martina, PJ, Kath , and Ellie.

The gathering was a bit larger then intended, and I fear I was the cause of such a big turnout, bearing the name 'Thomas Grady' in the Cloonreliagh/Derreentighe area turns out to have been a bit of a draw. I hope I did not disappoint (but I likely did!).

Again, Thanks ALL!

Below pic of all of us at Moore Cemetery. I think our ancestors would be pleased by the gathering and by the time we spent there among them:

I now have to return to documenting the finds from the trip, and I'm way behind on that.
